Welcome to TWG, Ann. My maternal Grandmother was a McLaughlin. Her grandfather was from Carlow, just a bit south of Tyrone. Perhaps we are related. Or perhaps I'm related to your husband, if that's your name from marriage.

McLaughlin is my name. Women keep their maiden names here in Quebec. We never knew where the McLaughlin's came from, except that the old great great granddad had from Co. Tyrone inscribed on his tombstone in Valcartier Quebec. That's where a lot of the Irish moved to in the 1800s. He came over in 1867 but must have left many siblings and at least 2 children behind. One of his son's married a Bowles, whose mother was a McLaughin and apparently a first cousin. She apparently came from Co Leitrim, which doesn't quite jive. Still trying to piece it together on ancestry....
