Pete. cead mile failte to The New Wild Geese. Can you share with fellow members the work of the 69th New York Volunteers Historical Association and Company A, and a bit about how you have come to explore the Irish experience this way?
Gerry, thank you for the welcome and I apologize for the short reply I am about to give.
Tomorrow morning, I am begining my travels from the banks of the Rappahannock to New York City to march with the 69th NYSV Historical Association ( on the web - http://www.69thnysv.org/index.htm and Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/pages/69th-NYSV-Historical-Association/193... ) to participate in the 252nd Annual New York City Saint Patrick's Day Parade on Saturday March 16. I think this will be my seventh parade in New York.
Andy Megill will be leading the contigent of over 100 Civil War Reenactors marching in this year's parade portraying the 69th New York State Volunteers also know as the 1st Regiment of the Irish Brigade. We march with the County Waterford (the birthplace of the Civil War New York Irish Brigade Commander Thomas Francis Meagher) contingent in the parade and then join the 1/69th Infantry in their celebration of the 69th NY's Regimental Day at the Armory at Lexington Ave and 26th Street.
I promise to post a few pictures afterwards and will more fully respond to your request after I've returned to Virginia and recovered from the festivities.
