céad míle fáilte, Sean. So pleased to have such talent added to our flock.
WG Irish Heritage Partner Sean Egan Art Glass presented this month a commemorative piece Sean created in crystal titled "Miracle in Stairwell B" to the 'Fighting 69th,' in the regiment's Manhattan armory. The sculpture will be held at the Armory until it can be displayed in The National September 11 Memorial Museum, which opens in May.
In 2011, Dan Rooney, then-American Ambassador to Ireland, commissioned the piece to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Sean immediately thought of the story of ‘Miracle on Stairwell B,’ and from this drew his inspiration, a visual representation of one of the few ‘good news’ stories that came from the tragic events of September 11th, 2001.
