Che Mural

Hey Gerry and everyone, this silly season the Che Mural story has gone viral, and I'm swamped on my Facebook page and Facebook Gallery page.

Two simple points:

1. I really doubt the 'American Tourist' story. It's the local council trying to divert attention from a dumb decision. The Che Festival has given a huge boost to Kilkee, and I'm proud to help a town I…

Hey Jim, céad míle fáilte to The (New) Wild Geese. Striking artwork here on your profile. We look forward to learning more about your muse, and your body of work, in the days and weeks and months ahead, as we explore and celebrate, together, the epic heritage of the Irish ... worldwide.

"The" Jim Patrick? I've been a huge fan since the early days of Thin Lizzy! I paint and draw as well as a hobby, intended on heading in that direction and then... I became a cop... After 28 years of that I'm getting back after it!

Jim, I've been following the controversy about Clare's removal of the Che mural. Might you weigh in on the issue here in The Wild Geese? Not only do fellow members gain the benefit of your insights, but we can promote the article / the viewpoint far and wide, far beyond the ranks of our 700+ members. Perhaps you might share as well the story of your creation of the iconic Che image, as well. We've got a discussion of the issue underway here.

Professional Book Reviews below

“That’s Just How It Was is a moving family tale through which much can be gleaned about life during the push for Irish independence… This is a satisfying, emotionally involving read.”- Clarion Review

“Authors of family memoirs often overload their narratives with minutiae that puts nonfamily members to sleep. There are no such encumbrances in Mary Thorpe’s biography of her remarkable grandmother, Bridget O’Rourke. Thorpe…carefully blends Bridget’s story with the events of her day, some of the most pivotal events in Ireland’s history.”- Blueink Review

“Thorpe compellingly incorporates history into her grandmother’s story, always making sure to bring the narrative back to Bridget’s life and personal experience ….. a compelling story of a strong, capable woman and the history that surrounded her “.- Kirkus Review
