‘Bring a Pal Home to Ireland’ on the Wings of The Wild Geese

Two round-trip tickets to Ireland will go to the most successful friend-builder for the Irish history and heritage online community.

(New York, 9/16/2013) The only online community devoted to exploring and celebrating the epic heritage of the Irish worldwide is looking to its members to spread the good word about The Wild Geese (www.TheWildGeese.com) through its initiative launching this week called “Bring a Pal Home -- To The Wild Geese, To Ireland.” The most successful recruiter of new members over the next six weeks will be able to do just that, by earning a pair of free round-trip airline tickets from New York to Dublin, Ireland.

The campaign and award also are a gesture in support of boosting the continuing flow of tourist dollars to Ireland, a reflection of the The Wild Geese’s efforts to bridge and unite the Irish diaspora, in this the year of The Gathering.

The campaign is open to all members, both current and new, and there is no charge for membership. If the top recruiter for “Bring a Pal Home ...” is a U.S. resident, the top award will be two round-trip tickets to Ireland. Alternate prizes for the most successful membership builders worldwide will be two hand-crafted crystal presentation-pieces, engraved for The Wild Geese by Waterford-based Sean Egan Art Glass (www.SeanEganArtGlass.com). Egan’s work “The Gathering Bowl” was presented to President Barack Obama last St. Patrick’s Day by Taoiseach Enda Kenny.

Throughout the campaign, spanning September 16 to October 28, The Wild Geese will offer tips on how to recruit like-minded family members, friends and colleagues and also feature a “Bring a Pal Home” Leaderboard, updated daily so members can track their progress and keep an eye on the competition.

“The Wild Geese is the only online community our team has encountered whose members devote themselves to exploring and celebrating the epic heritage of the Irish worldwide, covering a range of topics from the latest news to historical features,” The Wild Geese’s co-founder Gerry Regan said, noting that the rapidly growing membership has added hundreds of articles and more than 1,300 photos during the social network’s six months online.

“With ‘Bring a Pal Home,’ we aim to continue to provide added benefits to our many hard-working, passion-driven members. Each and every day, often with their personal family stories, they help us all better grasp the drama and often real heroism found in the Irish experience ‘wherever green is worn.’ ”

The Wild Geese online community serves not only a growing roster of members and thousands of weekly visitors, but also The Wild Geese Irish Heritage Partners, whose products and services support the community's mission.

“This campaign is a premier example of how our Heritage Partners work with our team and our fellow members to engage Irish culture worldwide. In the weeks ahead, we expect to put a spotlight on each of the partners behind ‘Bring a Pal Home.’ We’ll take a look at their own Irish stories, as we continue to develop new ways to support ‘the Irish brand’ worldwide.”

Sponsors for ‘Bring a Pal Home’  include CIE Tours, Tourism Ireland, The Certificate of Irish Heritage, Derek Warfield and The Young Wolfe Tones, Father Sean McManus, Cló Iar-Chonnacht, and quite a few others,” Regan said. “Our team, our fellow members and, increasingly, our Heritage Partners work each day to engage each other, and engage Irish heritage ... worldwide. It’s a life’s work, joyous work.”
