Obama Belfast Speech ‘A Great Day for Northern Ireland’

It was great, maybe this will do what JFK did in Berlin, with his "Tear Down this Wall” speech.

Wasn't "Tear down this wall" from Reagan?  Another great Irish-American.

OBAMA What an arch  hypocrit Hes planning another war or at the very least some form of intervention into Syria Hes after the oil and the strategic geographical position .He is possibly as many American politicians are -eying up a chance to 'legitimately' !! having a go at Iran -Iran is planning to side with Assad which is wrong But intervention is not helpful History shows that when a third party if you intefears a war is prolonged (excuse my spelling but dyslexic ) Vietnam is a good example as Gabriel Kolco explained in Anatonamy of a War

Ryan, I think you are correct on this.

Maybe I read a different speech than you did, mo chara....  I finally had to stop reading. How can one person be so clueless?I really wish that he would just stay home and tend to the issues at hand here.

Then again, that would be a lot tougher than jetsetting around, spewing forth his "rainbows & butterflies" platitudes... I voted for his "hope & change" once...but wasn't fooled into it twice...

I could be wrong but Bill Clinton was a much more sincere friend of Ireland than O'Bama could ever hope to be.

BTW is it true that Regan tried to play down his Irish roots before he was elected?

Ronan, can't speak to that. It hasn't been a political liability to be Irish American since JFK's breakthrough, IMHO.

and NOW everyone is rushing to be Irish!

but JFK was the only Catholic president. A second Kennedy in 1968 was not to be.

Though massively popular in Ireland, had he lived he would have support Britain concerning the conflict in northern Ireland.
