Did you know the St. Brigid's Cross is the traditional Irish housewarming gift, hung in homes to protect from fire and evil?

The St. Brigid's Cross has a strong tradition in Irish culture and folklore. This Irish Cross represents Ireland's second patron saint, St. Brigid, famed for her love and generosity to the poor -- her feast day is 1st February. According to legend, the St. Brigid's Cross was created when Brigid weaved rushes into a cross as she explained the life and mission of Jesus to a dying pagan chieftain, who then asked to be converted and was baptised just before he died.
