This is a photo I managed to take with some fabulous posing by Brian Lafferty, one of the last thatchers in the North West of Ireland. Brian is from Redcastle, County Donegal. He shared with me that he learned the skill from his father, who learned it from his father and so on. Brian was rather sad that his son did not want to learn the craft but respected that his son was entitled to follow his own path in life.

I hope that this is not 'one of the last thatchers'!
