<p>Just realized Mark that there is the fictionalized DEAD STARS LIGHT written in 1938 by Una Troy Walsh ("Eliz. Connor")and subsequently portrayed on the 1947 Abbey stage as THE DARK ROAD. As a result of the book she and her husband Dr.Joe Walsh (brother in law of Sean Keating RHA) were expunged from the roles of their Clonmel Church -Saints Peter and Paul.</p>

<p>But truth me told stories like that are not uncommon and largely reside in "folk memory" as, at least in West Waterford, the Volunteers were not ones to put pen to paper unlike elsewhere w/ Deasy, Moylan, Barry and Ernie O Malley.</p>
<p>The latter's story is the one best suited to a novel or film: "Castle Catholic" background, revolutionary derring do and escapes, "IRA Intellectual", emigre, marriage to millionaire heiress, brother in law of John D. Rockefeller, art…</p>
