Thank you for a nice, short and concise, kind of Birdseye view of Éire. Few of us have the time now to delve deeply into such. Just ignore donkey's behind and negative types.

Dear John,

I sincerely apologize for having saddened you. I should have made it clear that it was the earlier part that I claim is mostly pseudo history. I too was enthralled by the same material you present here. That was until I discovered that the Milesian story was pure myth.
Dear John,

I sincerely apologize for having saddened you. I should have made it clear that it was the earlier part that I claim is mostly pseudo history. I too was enthralled by the same material you present here. That was until I discovered that the Milesian story was pure myth. Then I discovered that the story of the Fir Fir Bolg coming from Greece was also pseudo history. And I was shocked when I discovered that the High Kingship of Ireland from time immemorial at Tara of Meath (a place I proudly visited many times in my youth) was another great myth. There were too many more shocking discoveries to mention. This led me to a more serious study of early history. I read 'Early Irish history and Mythology' by T.F. O Rahilly, 'Irish Kings and High Kings' by F.J. Byrne, 'Interpreting Irish History' ed. by C. Brady and a host of others. I made numerous discoveries which at first shocked me but eventually led me to write 'Hand of History, Burden of Pseudo History'. There is a summary of this in my web site for that book, www.handofhistory.com. Lastly, when I finally became appalled by what pseudo history had done with Queen Maeve (Medb), I wrote 'Ireland's Queen Maeve' to try to put the ancient record straight. A lot of early history has been incorporated into this fairly short book, history for which I went back to the earliest trustworthy sources. It was published by Amazon's CreateSpace. Since you ask me about my version, there you will find it. And if you ever get around to reading it I would be delighted to hear your comments. I believe the truth is far more exciting than the fictions.

John, sorry again for upsetting you. My apologies.

John, a Chara,

You went to great effort to research your history of Ireland. However, despite the fact that there is a certain amount of truth in what you have assembled from 'trusted sources', on the whole this is the blatant pseudo history that has been passed down to us by medieval pseudo historians who deliberately suppressed the genuine early history of Ireland in favour of the Tara Hoax.

I too was infatuated by this until I discovered the medieval fictions. In 'Interpreting Irish History', F.S.L Lyons wrote "We may legitimately pray for deliverance from the false history that has too long masqueraded as the real thing. In the same work Kieran Brady wrote "False images of Ireland's past are undermining its present and mortgaging its future." This pseudo-view of history was institutionalized by the Irish Free State, instructed by the Department of Education from 1922, and memorialized in textbooks. Although this pseudo-view of our history is still strongly current, an historiographical revolution has reversed nearly every assumption made by the textbooks.

I apologize if this seems harsh, but I humbly comment because I see you are genuinely interested in Irish History and hope you too discover the truth.
