I started my visual art journey as a way to explore the idea I was autistic. I was diagnosed autistic at 45! It's been rough and I've fought really hard to stay a good person despite the abuse and lack of understanding. Music was my first love and I am blessed to have been raised in an Irish traditional sense by a musical mother. My family sang together and as immigrants it was accepted although it made some people uncomfortable.  Here is some music from my autistic brain --

During our fourth lockdown I finished a wee project. My artist endeavours are ALWAYS about healing and working through things. I have been exploring my Irish heritage for years now. It's been an amazing learning journey. Family trees, DNA, stories, music, songs, festivals, history. My family were colonised hard and that comes with a bagful of trauma. Trauma that the sunny and white friendly shores of Australia can make one forget... somewhat.. I feel like that was the idea.... As a women in this colony I am bereft of myths and so I have been exploring my ancestors stories. These women are mostly from the Tuatha De Denaan who would later become the fairies.

Here's to remembering.
