Sarah , Thanks for that note . Im very interested in this aspect of  the story presently . From Gilmores perspective and from other Irish of the day they saw great parallels between the plight of the Slave and the Irishman . In fact the position of the Irish during penal times had legally been comparable with that of the planters slave in the south . So please any info would be tremendous . My email address is psgilmore@eircom.net   . By the way happy 2014 and I hope you have had a great Xmas . Regards Jarlath MacNamara

Hi Sarah....Same here.  I have shared this film with my nieces and nephews over the years.  As well as another family favorite, "The War of the Buttons".  I love the folk lore of the "Secret of Roan Inish"...it's just magical!  The landscape, the music, it's just charming!!!

    RE: Nucci's

Sarah, my husband had a cousin, Anthony Nucci who was a foreign language teacher in South Hampton.  He retired a few years ago and moved to Florida.  He passed away last August.

I don't know of any other Nucci's in my husband's immediate family in LI.

Thanks very much, Sarah. I'm looking forward to connecting with people here. San Francisco is a place I would love to visit. Have you heard of Emperor Norton? https://goo.gl/tn07mX

  • David Lawlor

I never knew it was called that...I definitely have to visit. Ever since seeing the car chase with Steve McQueen in Bullit, I've been hooked

Thank you Sarah, Ever since visiting Ireland for the first time last Fall, I have been in Love with Ireland. I even found Ballykissangel and watched them all and was so sad when it ended. The Pub in Bally-K was so real and reminded me of the Pub in Doolin (only the one in Doolin had great music constantly.)
