Cover pic is an army correspondent at the tent of a sutler traveling with the Army of the Potomac, in the aftermath of the Battle of Gettysburg. Here's an interesting opportunity to get your period-style photo in Civil War Trust's quarterly magazine. And then post them here too!

With the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Cedar Creek approaching, it's perhaps appropriate to enlist here.  Cedar Creek was in fact my first Civil War battle reenactment where I fell in with Co B, 28th Massachusetts Volunteers which brings together reenactors from the Maryland, DC, Virginia and beyond area.  Another group in New England also portray the 28th Massachusetts Volunteers.  American Civil War reenacting tends to come in a wide range of 'flavors' depending upon where the participants place their emphasis - my sympathies leaned towards as close to historical accuracy as was possible for someone who was at least 25 years older than the average soldier who actually fought.  I've since added Irish Volunteer 1916-1923 to my repertoire alongside a Civil War Army Correspondent and a World War II overage British Army Captain, 1st Battalion, Royal Ulster Rifles (glider troops).
