SUMMARY:The Titanic: Who Owns the Ocean Deep?
DESCRIPTION:Ireland and maritime and admiralty law is the subject of t
 he talk at the Irish Cultural Society’s October 1 meeting.  The mee
 ting starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Garden City Library, 60 Seventh Street
 , across the street from the Garden City Hotel.  The meeting is free 
 and open to the public.\nThe speaker will go back to the endlessly fas
 cinating topic of the Titanic for the October meeting.  Anyone can im
 agine that the legal ramifications of the sinking of this great ship m
 ust have been massive.  The speaker, Howard McCormack, a Garden City 
 resident, will speak on the topic “The Titanic: Who Owns the Ocean D
 eep?”\nMr. McCormack is a maritime attorney from Fordham Law School 
 and the NYU Graduate Law School whose practice has been in Maritime an
 d Admiralty International Law.  He has served three years aboard an A
 tlantic Ocean destroyer and is a Commander in the Navy Reserves, JAGC 
 (retired).  Mr. McCormack has served as president of the Maritime Ass
 ociation of the United States and as an adjunct professor of law at Fo
 rdham Law where he taught Admiralty and Maritime Law.  Last October, 
 Mr. McCormack participated in the Comite Maritime Institute, the paren
 t entity of all of the Maritime Law Associations of the maritime world
 .   The meeting was held in Dublin.\nThose attending this meeting wi
 ll be plunged into the depths of the law of the seas.  At the helm wi
 ll be a skilled attorney with many sea stories to tell.\n\n\nFor more
