Next week I'll be lucky enough to spend 48 hours in Dublin!  In honor of the occasion, what great work of Irish literature shall I read on the plane ride over the lake?  What are the top spots I should hit while in Dublin? Do you have any special Dublin friends who would enjoy a visit from a Yank?   There are so many choices it's almost overwhelming!!  I'll have a full 48 hours to explore!

Well... it isn't necessarily a "great" work of literature. And it will probably only make it on to a college syllabus if someone in the far future decides to teach a class on the very-long-genre-driven-historical-novels-of-the-twentieth-century, but I think "Trinity" by Leon Uris is riveting enough to make you forget you're sitting in an airplane for eight and a half hours.

I'd recommend Kilmainham Gaol for a reflection on Ireland's tragic history. Then lift your spirits at the Guinness Storehouse.

i would suggest  Guinness brewery a super tour...all new and really great ... the best pint you will ever have  at the end looking at the greatest view of Dublin....then i would go on a walk about..of dublin ...just go where it takes you..you dont have much time you will hate to leave..:)

a visit to the shelbourne hotel is wonderful ...over 200 yrs old and part of dublins history....you can see the home of oscar wilde....and a statue of him all in walking distance of the hotel....have a great time....:).
