Seeking Info on Irish Activist John Boyle O'Reilly in Boston

I'm seeking some background on John Boyle O'Reilly and his life in Boston, particularly his involvement with the Irish community then (including the Catalpa Affair). I have uncovered some wonderful inks between famed 19th century Galway-born music impresario and bandleader P.S. Gilmore and O'Reilly, which, of course, contradict those in Boston's Irish community who suggested that Gilmore's allegiance had some pro-English tendencies. Lastly, has anyone any specific knowledge of the Boston Pilot newspaper and any complete archives that might be available. Thank you!

Boston College and Ancestry have The Pilot archives.
