I'm very excited, but the name of the church was lost as my Grandma can't remember. Hoping to find out which one somehow!

I'm not sure where the area is. But hopefully someone can. Usually only one choice, so that should help some too. At least in Ireland the buildings stand longer than the States. My grandparents church is still standing after 143 years and I pretty good shape.

Hi Jessica,

From my copy of Brian Mitchell's "A Guide to Irish Churches and Graveyards," (circa 1870), on page 35, I found the following:

County Clare:

Civil Parish: Kilfearagh

Townland or Town: Kilkee

Street: Albert Road (Methodist), Chapel Street (St. Martins Roman Catholic), & Church Road (Roman Catholic)

Looking on Google Maps, I found a St James Church of Ireland on Church Road and a St Martins on Chapel Street. Keep in mind that Mr. Mitchell's references are from the 1870s timeframe so there could be significant changes. The County Clare Heritage and Genealogical Centre is located in Corofin, about an hour from Kilkee. Their website is: http://clareroots.com/index.htm

I stayed in Kilkee at the Strand Bistro and Guesthouse in the summer of 2013. I could only stay for two nights but it was very enjoyable. Kilkee is a great little seaside village with good hotels/guest houses and great restaurants and pubs.
