'One Great Irish Spot': The Burren Pub, Boston

Who’s looking for a great Irish pub in Boston? My favorite Irish place, stateside, is The Burren — a restaurant/pub in Somerville, MA (metro-Boston). Of course there is good food at The Burren, but the way they pour a pint of Guinness rivals the best pubs in the "old sod." Just imagine three inches of creamy goodness at the top of that black gold. Brian O’Donovan, host of NPR's “A Celtic Sojourn,” sponsors ticketed concerts featuring both local and world renowned Irish performers in what has come to be called, "The Back Room concerts." Tickets for those seisiums are available from Brown Paper Tickets at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/browse.html.

That said, the front rooms are always teeming with energy, great craic and trad seisiuns. Tommy and Louise McCarthy, owners and musicians, come to us from County Clare. Tommy comes from a long line of musicians, and his story will be featured at the Boston Irish Film Festival, Sunday, March 23 at The Somerville Theater, Davis Square. See: HANDING DOWN THE TUNES: A documentary on the life of Clare-born musician, Tommy McCarthy. This is the pure drop!

Sounds like a happening place, Niamh.  Thanks for the tip.  I'll look it up whenever I'm next in Boston.
