Coupla points of interest for me:

Actor Matt Dillon plays the cop in the beginning of the song.

The bleeped out word in the middle of the song is "faggot." In their version of the song, Bohola substitutes the word "maggot" for "faggot."

Don't know if it's my favorite Christmas song. Apparently a UK radio station polled listeners and it was their No. 1 favorite. Loves the black-and-white cinematography and the interplay between Shane and Kirstie. RIP,Kirstie.

It appeals to our cynical nature and offers a contrast to the cheesy Christmas songs.

Thanks, Belinda, for posting that beautiful video.

Whenever I hear "Fairytale," I think of my father going into the Bronx on Christmas Day to find one of my cousins, who had gone on a bender in the Bronx. It's a brief flashback, but it's always there.

Here's a link to "Ce;ebration,' a wonderful poem by Terry Winch about Christmas Eve in the Bronx. There is also a link inside it to a reading of the poem by Pat Broaders of Bohola.
