Sitting quietly alone, gazing out the window at the sight,

Of night’s grasp soon giving way to morning’s light.

The sun slowly rising, erasing the morning gloom

With me sitting quietly alone in that room.

Enjoying the peace and solitude of this place,

A good book in hand, feeling the rising sun in my face.

The smell of eggs, rasher, sausage and toast,

Being prepared by our gracious Irish hosts.

Suddenly out of the corner of my eye,

A furry brown creature gracefully passes by.

From my perch, I had to stare,

For into our host’s garden hopped a hare.

The furry guest explored the garden space,

No great hurry, at a leisurely pace.

One of God’s creatures sharing this moment,

Bestowing to me their company for my enjoyment.

Suddenly a thought in my mind that was funny,

A name he shall be called Arnold Schwatzen-bunny!

Now I sat there for quite a while,

And on my face was a big smile.

The start to my day starting off so well,

And with my Wild Westies, a story to tell.
