The 1916 Easter Rising was a watershed event and a major turning point in the history of Ireland. Irish historianJoe McGowan, who has written a book on Irish Patriot Constance Markievicz, and whose own father participated in the Rising rebellion, will guide you to some of the significant places in the west of Ireland associated with the events leading up to the Rising right up to the War of Independence. We will also visit the home of Irish Patriot Sean MacDiarmada and you will have the chance to visit Kilmainham Jail, where Sean MacDiarmada and many others were executed for their part of the rebellion and where Constance Markievicz was imprisoned. “Cherish the Ladies” as Wild West Irish Tours celebrates our 5 year Anniversary!

Wild West Irish Tours are proud and honored that the world renowned, Emmy Award winning, Grammy Award nominated (and appearing on Grammy award winning recordings), Cherish the Ladies, will be performing for our five- year anniversary of taking travelers to the “waters and the wilds” of Ireland! The concert will be at 8 p.m. March 26th at the Tin Pan, in Richmond, Virginia. We will also have a celebration before the show at 6:00PM with music by “Donegal Hill” and dancing by the Blue Ridge Irish Music & Dance School. Hands Across the Wild Atlantic with the Ganley Sisters!

Wild West Irish Tours have sponsored the best Irish dance duo in Ireland, The Ganley Sisters, to help us raise awareness and funds for two charities, one in Ireland (The Sligo Cancer Support Centre) and the other in the USA (St. Baldrick’s Foundation for conquering childhood cancer). The Ganleys Sisters will be appearing at several events and venues in March. All of this will culminate with the Cherish the Ladies Concert, where Joanie Madden of the band, will draw the winning names. Here are the dates and venues for the Ganley Sisters:

  • March 18th – The Auld Shebeen, Fairfax, Virginia
  • March 19th & 20th – The Church Hill, Richmond Irish Festival
  • March 19th: Blue Ridge Irish Music & Dance School, Charlottesville, VA
  • March 20th – Opening act for the world famous “Celtic Tenors” at the Tin Pan in Richmond (7:00PM)
  • March 23 – Part of Wild West Irish Tours sponsorship of “Dervish” in concert, Berryville, VA
  • March 24th –  Blue Ridge Irish Music & dance school sponsors of “Dervish” concert.
