DJ, welcome to The (New) Wild Geese. And thanks for jumping right in on our discussion of " 'Tans' in the Family Attic."

Delighted to have you part of our growing worldwide Irish family!

    Hi, DJ.

Wanted to take a minute to welcome you here to The Wild Geese.  It's a great little community which is blossoming into something big, little by little.  Your book about the Black & Tans sounds fascinating.  Great to have you here to add your perspectives.

    Welcome aboard, DJ!

Thank you Gerry & Ryan.  Delighted to be here.  Been packing all day as am embarking on a mini book tour on Weds am, to Irish World Heritage Centre in Manchester UK and then on Friday to  Dunlavin Arts Festival, Co Wicklow.  Am off for some shuteye now, but will pop in again in the morning (UK time).  Night all.  :-D

Denise, congrats on your selection as our "Member of the Week"!

Thank you Ger.  What an honour.  I'm enjoying the site (in Co Waterford, Ireland, at the moment).

Hello DJ, thanks for asking to be my friend on here, hope you are well x

  • DJ Kelly

Thanks for accepting Lucy.  I see we both have a Mayo connection.  My mother was a Lyons from Aughamore, near Ballyhaunis in East Mayo.  I'm heading over there (for first time since I was 3 years old) in 4 weeks for a bit of a 'gathering' with all my cousins.  I'm hoping also to get a feel for the place as I thought I might write a book based on the maternal ancestry.  My father's side are Northern Irish (Belfast & Carrickfergus) and  I've published 2 novels based on the paternal ancestors and am currently writing another.  I'm Manchester born but much travelled and living these days in Buckinghamshire, where I set up Chalfont Writers' Circle.  I also research and write little local history books for my local history group.  Best wishes.  Denise [DJ Kelly]
